Michael Rodriguez joined the New Haven Works staff as a Job Coach in July 2020. Michael was born and raised in New Haven, and currently lives in the Fair Haven neighborhood of the city. He was raised by hard-working, immigrant parents who moved to the US from Mexico in search of better economic opportunities. Michael attended Hill Regional Career High School and completed a Post-Graduate year at Pomfret School. A first-generation college graduate, New Haven Promise Scholar, and Squash Haven Alum, Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Economics from Connecticut College, where he also served as the Captain of the Men’s Varsity Squash Team.
Michael joins New Haven Works with a strong passion for helping residents find meaningful economic opportunities. He understands firsthand how important it is to have mentors throughout the job search process. Part of Michael’s motivation comes from the strong work ethic that his parents instilled in him, one that he hopes to use to empower people in New Haven. In his spare time, Michael enjoys hanging out with his friends and family, as well as playing and watching sports.
