Jorge Perez

Body

Jorge L. Perez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1962 and came to the United States in January 1971 with his family.  After living in the Bronx, New York for approximately five years, the Perez family settled in New Haven in 1976.  Jorge lived in the Hill Community for over forty years and continues to be an essential part of the New Haven community.  He graduated from Richard C. Lee High School in 1981 and received a Cum Laude diploma from the University of New Haven in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting. 

Garrett Sheehan

Body

Appointed in March 2018, Garrett Sheehan currently serves as President of the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of the Regional Leadership Council, the region’s advocate for economic growth. Garrett also serves as President of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Greater New Haven Chamber.

Mayor Justin Elicker

Body

Justin grew up in Connecticut. He attended public school, graduated with a BA from Middlebury College in Vermont, and earned both a Master’s in Business Administration from the Yale School of Management and a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry. Justin speaks Spanish and Chinese.

Ingrid Derrick-Lewis

Ingrid Derrick-Lewis

Ingrid Derrick-Lewis joins the New Haven Works staff as Executive Assistant; her responsibilities include recruiting and training volunteers, accounting/bookkeeping and performance measurements data. Ingrid entered New Haven Works as a participant in July and within a month began volunteering. As a volunteer, she helped with data entry, filing, and one-on-one assessments of new participants.

Bob Proto

Body

Bob was born in the Fair Haven section of New Haven, later Bob’s family moved to East Haven.  Bob attended East Haven High School and Notre Dame then onto University of New Haven.  While attending classes at UNH, Bob was accepted into a Trades Apprentice Program at Yale University.  He went on to achieve his Heat & Cooling License and Plumbing License beginning his career as a tradesman.  In 1990 Bob became an Executive Board Member of Local 35 Federation of University Employees.  Three years later Bob was elected as their President, a title which he still presently holds.

David Johnson

David joins the New Haven Works Board of Directors as the Youth representative. Because David understands what it is like to be a youth in New Haven looking for opportunities, David has made a commitment to helping our city succeed and to ensuring that all of New Haven’s residents have opportunities, if they are willing to work for them.
